Alumni are invited to meet and join College of Arts and Science Dean Gene Jarrett who will offer opening remarks at the Irving H. Jurow Lecture What Art Can Tell Us About the Brain. A reception will follow the lecture.
In this lecture, Margaret S. Livingstone, Takeda Professor of Neurobiology, Harvard Medical School, will examine how major works of art provide insight into how we see, how artists have figured out how our brains extract relevant information about faces and objects, and why learning disabilities may be associated with artistic talent.
After the event, alumni are encouraged to visit the NYU Grey Art Gallery to experience The Beautiful Brain: The Drawings of Santiago Ramón y Cajal exhibition presented in conjunction with the lecture.
