Global Study

The Institute of International Education reports that less than 10% of U.S. college students study abroad during their undergraduate education. At NYU, global study is encouraged, and Liberal Studies gives you several extraordinary opportunities to study away from Washington Square for a semester or even a year.

Whether you study in Europe, the Middle East, or another region of the world, you will be fully supported by NYU faculty and staff at your chosen NYU global academic center. The coursework you complete during your semester or year away will fulfill the LS curriculum requirements and is designed to fit seamlessly with the program at Washington Square. Studying away offers exceptional possibilities for cultural immersion, intellectual growth, and personal development, making it an excellent complement to the global great works core curriculum you will study in LS.

As an LS student, you have unique options for global study during first year and sophomore year. Global Liberal Studies majors spend their junior year living and learning in a city abroad. In addition to the study away programs offered by LS, you also have access to NYU's global network through NYU summer abroad programs and NYU January Term international programs.
