Fall Away offers Core Program sophomores the special opportunity to take Social Foundations III and Cultural Foundations III at an NYU global site in the fall semester. Completing these core curriculum courses while studying away allows you to add global experience to your resume and explore new fields before transitioning to your degree program.
Fall in Florence
At NYU Florence, you will be part of an intellectual and cultural community that explores the important intersection of history and current affairs. In addition to your core curriculum courses, you may also take introductory courses in economics, politics, and psychology, or electives in other majors such as art history and history. Your courses will take advantage of surrounding sites, such as the Uffizi Gallery. NYU Florence also offers a host of enriching political, social, and cultural programs on campus.
Fall in Shanghai
Spending your fall semester at NYU Shanghai puts you in the heart of China's largest city with many opportunities to experience local culture. Your classes will include core curriculum courses and elective options in economics, journalism, East Asian studies, Chinese language, and more. Outside of the classroom, a variety of NYU-led excursions, community programs, and on-campus events orient you to the exciting city of Shanghai.

GLS students are required to spend the fall and spring semesters of sophomore year in residence on Washington Square in New York.
