Liberal Studies was delighted to co-sponsor How to Be an Effective Activist, an event hosted by the NYU Wagner Graduate School of Public Service on January 29. Experts led a four-session speed course on nonviolent organizing, advocacy and action -- and related these themes to the global civil rights issues that are sparking intense debate and protests. Through faculty-led discussions and student performances, a large audience from across the university learned together how meaningful change can be achieved through strategic planning, engagement, and communication.
The Liberal Studies community of dynamic faculty, students, alumni, and staff is committed to the place-based, global, experiential learning that allows us to listen loudly to different voices -- an essential skill for being an effective, informed and prepared activist!
