Course(s) Taught: Writing I & II

Teaching Statement: To become an accomplished writer you must read, read, and read some more. The best writers are the best readers. Learning to read like a writer -- distinguishing between different types of tone and style and voice, of character nuance, of sequence -- separates the "smart" writers from the everyday writers. Being informed, being well-rounded and astute, cultivating your own literary aesthetic comes from discussing the work of others.
