Parents and Families

Welcome LS families!

We recognize the important role parents and families have in supporting students leading up to, and after beginning, their NYU education. If you have questions or need information, please utilize the many resources NYU makes available to parents and families, or contact us at

Parents Circle

All parents of current Core Program and Global Liberal Studies students are members of the Liberal Studies Parents Circle, a community made up of families around the world. The Parents Circle is intended to help you develop a deeper understanding of your student's academic experience and to foster a community of LS parents and families. Annual Parents Circle receptions are hosted at NYU's Washington Square campus to allow you to meet fellow parents and members of the LS administration and faculty in person. Parents Circle receptions are an opportunity to learn more about LS programs, hear plans for the future, and offer feedback about your own child's experiences.

Parents Day

Each year, NYU invites the families of new first-year and transfer students, as well as families of sophomores returning from FYA sites, to Parents Day. Events include an academic program, a number of workshops and Open Houses, and a reception hosted by the NYU Parents Council and President Andrew Hamilton. Your day begins with the Liberal Studies academic program, where you will learn more about the LS great works core curriculum and the outcomes of an LS education. You will also have the unique opportunity to experience firsthand an LS class, taught by one of our distinguished faculty members.
