New Student Orientation and Welcome Week
When is Orientation?
A mandatory LS Orientation for new students beginning in New York City will be held on campus beginning Monday, August 27, 2018. You will meet your LS classmates, your academic advisor, and get to know all that LS has to offer you.
NYU’s Center for Student Life also hosts Welcome Week featuring all-university programs and marquee events for new students during the same week.
Where can I find my schedule for Orientation?
All LS Orientation and NYU Welcome Week information will be made available via the NYU mobile app. In early August, you will receive an email from your advisor with information about downloading NYU mobile app and accessing your LS Orientation schedule.
When is the first day of class?
The first day of class for students in New York City is Tuesday, September 4, 2018. Please refer to the NYU Academic Calendar for additional important dates.
Health and Immunizations Policies

Where do I get an NYU ID card?
New students beginning in New York City* can arrange for an NYUCard online, or obtain the NYUCard after arriving to campus for Orientation.
*Students studying away for their first year will receive their NYUCard after arrival in Florence, London, Paris, or Washington, DC. The LS Office of Global Programs will provide additional instructions about this process.
Course Registration and Course Schedules

When do I register for Fall classes?
In June. New students beginning in New York City* will receive an email (to their NYU account) in late May, with information from the LS Academic Advising team regarding the registration process. The email will include important links to guide you as you register for classes:
- An instructional video that will teach you how to use Albert (NYU's Student Information System) in order to register.
- A comprehensive Liberal Studies Fall Semester Registration Handbook. The Handbook will include everything you need to know about your fall semester class options and the registration process (e.g., dates, details). It will also include contact information for your Liberal Studies Academic Advisor. You should contact your academic advisor as necessary with any questions.
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT REGISTRATION: NYU requires that all students provide both a cell phone number and an emergency contact number (including an option for an international emergency phone number) before they are registered for fall coursework. If you have not done so already, you will have to first activate your NetID to log into your NYUHome account. On the Student tab in Albert, click on the Personal Info menu option, then click on the "Personal Info" tab, and click on the edit link in the bottom of the "Phone Numbers" box to update your cell phone number. Then, click on the edit link in the bottom of the "Emergency Contacts" box to update your emergency contact number.
*Students studying away for their first year will receive separate registration instructions from the LS Office of Global Programs.
Who will my advisor be?
You will receive information in late May about fall semester registration. Soon thereafter, you will be contacted by your academic advisor. This professional staff advisor will work closely with you on all administrative aspects of your LS experience, help you navigate the complexities of the larger university, and help you identify resources to support your needs. Later, you will meet your LS faculty mentor. Your faculty mentor will engage you in conversations about the curriculum, its relation to your degree plans, and its impact on lifelong intellectual and professional pursuits.
Where can I get my course schedule?
You will be able to find your student schedules in NYU Albert once you have registered for classes.
- To connect to Albert go to NYUHome.
- Log in using your NetID and password.
- Your schedule of courses should be visible on the first page that opens in Albert (toward the center of the page).
- To view a weekly schedule of your courses, click the "Weekly Schedule" link below your current schedule.
- To download your course schedule to add it to your personal electronic calendar click the "Download Schedule" link below your current schedule.
When is winter break?
For students beginning in New York City*, winter recess begins on Saturday, December 22, 2018, and spring 2019 classes begin on Monday, January 28, 2019.

When can I move into my residence hall?
Sunday, August 26, 2018 is NYU Residence Hall Move-In in New York City.
When is the housing deposit deadline? How much is the housing deposit?
To reserve housing, you must submit a housing deposit of $1,000; and it must be received no later than May 1, 2018. For more information about living at NYU in Washington Square, please visit consult the Office of Residential Life and Housing Services.

How much is tuition, room, and board?

When will the tuition bills be sent out to students?
Tuition bills will not be mailed to students. You will be billed electronically. Please refer to NYU Office of the Bursar's eSuite.
When is my tuition due?

Can I pay tuition with a credit card?
There is a list of tuition payment options online, including electronic payments, wire transfers, and installment plans.
