Liberal Studies Orientation

Even before your first year begins, you will get to know Liberal Studies and NYU through several orientation events. LS Orientation brings together new students, returning students, faculty, and staff before classes begin to prepare you for the academic year.

As a first-year student, you will have a designated academic advisor and an advising group with other first-year students in LS. Together you will learn more about the academic mission and values of Liberal Studies and establish important relationships with your peers in LS. You will have opportunities to explore New York City with student leaders, join a student organization at our club fair, participate in a service project, and much more!

Welcome Week

In addition to LS Orientation, you will participate in Welcome Week, NYU's annual program for new students. Scheduled concurrently with LS Orientation, Welcome Week hosts over 500 events for new undergraduate students. Events range from informational sessions about NYU and NYC to student resource fairs, social outings, and marquee events such as Drag Bingo, NYU Portraits, and the annual Ball.

NYU Guide

To navigate both Welcome Week and LS Orientation, you will be invited in August to download NYU Guide, an app available via smartphone and the web. NYU Guide includes a calendar of all Welcome Week and Orientation events, allowing you to create your own customized schedule. You can also use NYU Guide to find contact information and social media for NYU and Liberal Studies.

We look forward to meeting you soon!
