His research interests include molecular and cellular mechanisms of memory formation and evolutionary cell biology. Nikolay’s research deals with the origins of information storage in biological systems, in particular the role of temporal patterns in the establishment of long-term memories. His academic work has been published in Neuron, Nature Medicine and PNAS among others. He is also an acclaimed popular science writer and speaker in Russia, author of a bestselling, award-winning book “One Hand Clapping: The Origin Story of The Human Experience” (Alpina Non-Fiction, Moscow, 2020).
