Washington Square News “Influential 2018”

Congratulations to LS Core alumnus Mark Yokoyama, who was named one of 2018’s ten most influential students by the Washington Square News. In a community as large as NYU, these students “have been able to transform what’s around them by thinking intentionally small.”
Yokoyama grew up in Japan just minutes away from Fukushima Daiichi—the site of the 2011 nuclear catastrophe—and has returned annually to his hometown to assist with clean up efforts: he has “worked with nonprofits and government organizations, like Human Rights Now, to clean up the nuclear city, and has even taken to working alone to measure, by-hand with a Geiger counter, the levels of radiation in affected areas of Fukushima.” Read the full article here.
