Liberal Studies Students Tour Sustainable NYU
This week Liberal Studies students in Professor Genia Naro-Maciel’s environmental science classes toured some of NYU’s signature environmental initiatives in energy and landscaping. George Reis spoke about native plants, pollinators, and water issues concerning the GCASL green roof and gardens around campus. Ken Higgins explained the Cogen (cogeneration) plant’s sustainable features, including repurposing otherwise wasted heat energy. These campus explorations culminate in a science event in which students and faculty concerned about food waste and the environment, or just wanting to know more, will join LS Professor Robin Nagle and colleagues for a Freegan tour around the NYU area.
