Professor Cammie Kim Lin published an article about the origin and evolution of #dalgonacoffee and #dalgonacandy, viral hashtags that racked up well over a billion views on TikTok and flooded millions of readers' newsfeeds. The word dalgona, she explains, evolved from a Korean term describing a traditional Korean candy to the global phenomenon of TikTok challenges, owing to the massive reach of TikTok and fanatical following of the international-hit Netflix series, Squid Game. The article, which includes a recipe from her forthcoming cookbook, Serious New Cook (Fall 2022, Rizzoli USA), was published on Eater, a James Beard Award-winning online publication featuring food writing.
