A group of scholars gathered to discuss the relevance and guidance that John Dewey's philosophy can offer today at the conference "John Dewey and Critical Philosophies for Critical Political Times," sponsored by University College Dublin, the MIND Association. Brendan Hogan spoke to the issue of whether Dewey's social and political thought from the 1930s has lessons for our situation. Specifically, given the straits of various crises facing the globe, is Dewey's philosophy able to provide an orientation that can meet the challenges of our times?
