The Post-Colonial, Race, and Diaspora Studies Colloquium at New York University invited Dr. Rochelle Almeida to give a lecture entitled, "Identity Matters: What Makes Britain's Anglo-Indians Invisible?" on February 8, 2018.
Basing her talk on her recently published book, Britain's Anglo-Indians: The Invisibility of Assimilation, Dr. Almeida discussed reasons for the virtual 'disappearance' of a small ethnic minority from the South Asian diaspora in Great Britain. The talk was based on ethnographic field research carried out in the UK over almost a decade through generous funding provided by Liberal Studies and the Provost's Global Research Initiatives Fellowship.
Dr. Almeida's talk was very well attended by graduate students and faculty members from the English Department, as well as students and her faculty colleagues from Liberal Studies.
