Prof. David Larsen Publishes Three New Translations of Classical Arabic Poetry

Professor David Larsen has three new translations of Classical Arabic poetry:

The Muwashshaha Qalandariyya of Taqi al-Din ibn al-Maghribi (d. 1285 CE), appearing in the November 2020 issue of the Brooklyn Rail

The Poem of the Bow by al-Shammakh ibn Dirar (d. mid-7th c.), in issue 29 (2020) of A Public Space

The Mu‘allaqa of ‘Abid ibn al-Abras (6th c.) in The Mu‘allaqat for Millennials: Pre-Islamic Arabic Golden Odes (Dhahran: Ithra, 2020). For more on this public-access anthology (available for free download), see the recent items in Sekka Magazine and ArabLit.org.
